Activities: |
Several experimental activities are carried out in this laboratory along the following main themes:
- Robotics and medical applications: research activities of the laboratory are in computer vision, mobile robotics, haptics, virtual reality and medical applications in neuroscience and surgical simulations.
- Mobile robotics: The aim of the laboratory is to investigate techniques and algorithms for localization, map building and motion planning of autonomous mobile robots.

Equipments: |
Main hardware and software resources available in the laboratory are:
- 1 Dimension Elite 3D printer;
- 5 Haptic Interfaces: 4 Omega (Force Dimension) 2 Phantom (Sensable), 2 FalconDreampack;
- 8 Vision Systems (2 pin-hole and 1 panoramic by Lumenera and Remote Reality), 5 Kinect;
- 2 robotic arm (1 Kuka KR3 and 1 Kinova MICO Arm);
- 1 robotic hand (DLR/Hit II hand);
- SDK for Computer Vision and Haptics;
- Mobile platforms (Nomad XR4000, Pioneer 3AT, Pioneer 2DX), with multisensorial equipment including laser rangefinders, sonars and cameras;
- 1 Tracking System Ascension 3D Guidance TRAKSTAR;
- Software tools for localization, map building and motion planning of autonomous robots in indoor environments, and for model predictive control of dynamical processes.
