User Experience and Emotions

In an era of globalization and strong competitiveness of products, companies
must deal with how to improve their products, not only from a functional point
of view, but especially from an experiential and emotional perspective. User
experience refers to the effectiveness, usability and satisfaction that products
provide to users. Emotions are elicited during the interaction with the
product. It is strategic to find proper methods to design products that cause a
positive experience and elicit positive emotions. Emotional Engineering is a
recently developed discipline researching on methods to design systems and
products which appeal to emotion and sensibility by translating human
sensibility and multi-sensory effects, including images, sounds, haptic/tactile
effects and smells, into physical design factors
